Follow these steps to add a printer on a MacBook
Prerequisites:
- Ensure the MacBook for user is managed and enrolled in Mosyle Manager.
- Confirm you have the necessary permissions to add devices.
Steps:
Access Mosyle Manager:
- Log in to Mosyle Manager.
- Navigate to the 'Management' tab on the bottom task bar.
- In the upper left corner, ensure you are set to 'macOS' (refer to the image below)
Select Printer Profile:
- In the left column, under management profiles, scroll down and select 'Custom Commands'. (refer to the image below)
- Every device needs the "follow me" printer driver as well as the printer appropriate for their location. Select the printers that are necessary for the users location. (ex. An HS teacher would need both "follow me" and the HS copiers drivers)
Install Printer Profile:
- Select the desired printer profile. You will have to do this each time you select a printer. Once for "follow me" and again for their designated printer.
- A column on the right will appear and display code (do not alter this code).
- Click within the code box to launch the test panel (see image).
Add Device:
- From the test panel, click 'Add a Device' (located in the bottom right).
- Locate and select your MacBook from the device list (the device will be named the name of the teacher) , then click 'Done'.
- This will then lead you back to the code page.
Run Installation Script:
- Back in the test panel, click 'Run Script' on the left side.
- A 'Sent' message will appear, which will change to a completion percentage once received.
Manual Installation via Terminal (If the above method fails):
- Launch the Terminal app on your MacBook.
- In Mosyle, return to the test panel of the desired printer.
- Select and copy all lines of code except for line 1.
- In Terminal, paste the copied lines and press 'Enter' to run the command.
